Easter at Rottnest Island

We decided it was time.
Time to give 'the little dinghy that could' the challenge it deserved.
It's a 19km journey from the river mouth to Rottnest Island off the coast of Perth, not including the forty minute ride from the nearby jetty to the open ocean...

We are a little battered and bruised today after the tumbling waves and currents gave us a run for our money but what we experienced either side of the bumpy rides was pure paradise. Crystal clear water, warm sunshine and wonderful food. It felt like stepping off the boat and into the Mediterranean.

We had brought with us an esky full of cold drinks and chicken, avocado & brie sandwiches. Humble picnic food but it did not disappoint. We made sure to pack some Easter treats like chocolate eggs and homemade hot cross buns too.
